Engineered flooring is becoming a popular alternative to solid timber flooring. This product has a wide array of advantages when installed correctly.
Cost and time saving
The cost and time saving in using engineered flooring products comes from getting a product that doesn’t require sanding or polishing, which means that you will not need to coordinate the floor sanding and finishing trades to complete your clients project reducing time.
With the rising cost of solid timber flooring, not to mention potential longer lead times, engineered flooring will become more attractive to your customers who are trying to achieve a natural look for their homes but would like to save a few dollars on the product and ongoing maintenance cost.
Performance
Engineered flooring performs as well as a solid timber floor, this is because it is specifically designed to minimize the natural movement of natural timber after installations. Allowing some of our suppliers to offer a structural warranty of up to 25 years.
Colour
One of the biggest challenges of working with solid timber flooring is how products may react differently to the choice of finishing products or look different to the sample they made their selection from, which means that your clients might be surprised by the finished product. With engineered flooring, which are prefinished, the colour on the sample translate directly to what is delivered on-site, and your clients can be assured that they will get the look and feel they picked out during your design process.

Application and installation notes
- 190x1900x14/3mm, 190x1900x15/4mm: suitable for floating or direct stick application*
- 240x2200x15/4mm, 260x2200x20/6mm: direct stick application* (mechanical fixing is more important and recommended)
- For direct stick installs, it is recommended to use a timber sheet substrate, such as plywood or particleboard to provide a flat, dry surface.
- The sub floor preparation should be the main focus to reduce the risk of call back. Moisture check and a level subfloor are key to a stable installation. Most issues after installation are caused or exacerbated by the lack of adequate sub floor preparation.
* direct stick means full coverage trowel spread bed of flexible adhesive with mechanical fixings if desired
