Update to Xtreme Guard Koko Brown colour

Over time ModWood have noticed that Xtreme Guard Koko Brown has drifted from a darker chocolate brown colour (original) to a more reddish brown (current). Brown is a notoriously difficult colour to achieve a consistent shade of colour and with the slightest changes in colour batches this can affect the overall colour appearance. The team at ModWood have worked with their pigment supplier who has acquired new equipment and implemented additional quality control steps to ensure greater consistency of pigment.

Product manufactured from late May 2022 will revert the Koko Brown to its former chocolate brown colour.

Incomplete projects that need to be matched

It is possible that there is still stock in the market or some incomplete projects. ModWood will make best endeavours to ensure customers can complete these projects.

Xtreme Guard grooved profile only embossing pattern

Prior to November 2021, the grooved profile only had a faintly embossed/smooth face on the underside and a heavily embossed top face (P5).

Since November 2021 Xtreme Guard grooved profile has been manufactured with a heavily embossed top face (P5 AS 4586:2013) which is the correct and only face up to be installed, with the under-side or bottom having a slightly embossed pattern (now very similar to the bottom of the Square Edge or “Solid” Xtreme Guard board).

There have also been reports of instances where the incorrect or underside face (i.e. slightly embossed face) has been installed as the face up. This is contrary to the ModWood fixing instructions and the inkjet messaging, that has always been printed along the board edge.

ModWood’s fixing instructions (supplied in full packs on top row of deck boards), and Xtreme Guard clearly communicate the correct face up to be installed, with an inkjet ‘arrow up ‘symbol pointing to the correct face (you can also refer the ModWood website for fixing instructions). To assist in improving communication of the correct surface to be laid facing upwards ModWood have added additional text, This change will occur in June production.
