Spotted Gum is a rich individual timber, desired by Architects and Designers the world over, particularly for its striking backsawn grain structure, attractive fiddleback and vibrant colour palette. Spotted gum is a large native hardwood that is grown in a variety of forest types along the NSW coastal strip into Queensland. The word “spotted” refers to large spot like features that form on the tree as it sheds its bark in strips.
The QLD Spotted Gum product has a natural colour variation, which means that no Spotted Gum deck will look the same! When most people think of the appearance of Spotted Gum, they’re picturing the Queensland product. QLD Spotted Gum, has a deeper and richer shade of colour, giving more natural variations than the NSW Spotted Gum, which tends to be much lighter and more uniform in colour, although still tonal.
Spotted gum has an astonishing level of natural fire resistance. It's inherent fire retarding properties meet Australian Standard AS3959, and so can be used in bush-fire prone areas without any treatment.
Complimenting the Parkside timber decking which is now available pre-oiled to provide protection during the installation process.
