Blackbutt is a eucalyptus that grows in the coastal forests of New South Wales and South East Queensland. As with most natural timber products, colour variation within the blackbutt timber species is normal and one of its most appealing characteristics. Generally a pale brown to slightly pinkish tone, with an even texture and straight grain, blackbutt hardwood weatherboards are sure to complement any façade.

Finish these weatherboards with an exterior stain, paint, oil or clear coat. Leaving the cladding raw is a further option, but accelerated weathering and reduced lifespan will likely result. Blackbutt has a remarkable level of natural fire resistance. It’s inherent fire retarding properties meet Australian Standard AS3959, and so can be used in bush-fire prone areas without any treatment.
